Seen from directly above, the ant becomes something else entirely — not the creature you sweep off a picnic blanket, but an architecture of curves and segments laid bare. Antennae bend mid-air, compound eyes catch nothing and everything, six jointed legs splay in clinical symmetry. There is an eerie quiet to it, a specimen pinned in steel rather than glass. This is the engineering of the smallest life, made large enough to hold your attention from across the room.

Cut from a single sheet of 2mm low-carbon steel, every element stays structurally connected — the thread-thin antennae, the hairline gaps between thorax and abdomen, the joints of each leg. No welding, no assembly, no separate parts joined afterward. The laser follows the contour with 0.1mm precision, fine enough to hold the delicacy of an insect's anatomy without breaking the continuity of the piece. One sheet of metal, wall-ready.

Mounted on standoff spacers, the panel floats 15mm from the wall. Ambient light slips behind the steel and casts a layered shadow — the ant doubled, once in metal and once in shade. As light shifts through the day, the legs and antennae throw longer or shorter shadows, and the specimen seems to crawl across the surface. It is a living quality that flat prints and framed photography cannot replicate.

Four finishes carry the mood differently: matte black for the sharpest clinical silhouette against pale walls, matte white for a quieter presence in a study or classroom, raw steel with a clear protective coat for an industrial, entomological edge, or corten rust for a warm patina that deepens naturally over weeks. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, each scaled to preserve the original proportions. Weight ranges from approximately 1.5 to 8 kg depending on size. All finishes and sizing details are covered in the craft and delivery guide.

Each panel is laser-cut from a single sheet of steel — no assembly, no seams.

The result is a shadow-casting sculpture that transforms any wall into a gallery.
