The Cat We Know

The pointed ear, the curve of the shoulder, the whiskers fanning out into the light — you would know this profile anywhere. It belongs to a soul we love, a presence that occupied the warm spot on the windowsill and the foot of the bed. Turned left, head lifted, the silhouette holds the quiet attention of an animal listening to something we cannot hear. Cut from a single sheet of 2mm steel, the outline reads instantly: not a generic feline, but the shape of a companion remembered.

Laser-cut from low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. The beam follows each whisker with 0.1mm precision — fine, fragile lines that survive the cut because every one is engineered to stay structurally connected to the head and neck. The pointed ear, the fur edge along the shoulder, the soft taper of the throat — all one continuous piece, no welding, no separate parts joined afterward. The panel arrives wall-ready, holding its shape across every size without backing or reinforcement.

Light completes the portrait. Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, the steel casts a layered shadow that traces the profile a second time in soft grey. Through the day the shadow shifts — crisp in direct morning light, deep and quiet in the evening. The cat seems to breathe with the room, an effect no flat print or framed photograph can hold. It is the difference between an image of an animal and the felt presence of one.

Four finishes shape the mood: matte black for the sharpest silhouette against a light wall, matte white for a softer presence in calm interiors, raw steel with a clear protective coat for a subtle metallic grain, or corten rust for a warm patina that deepens over weeks and months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, scaled to preserve the original proportions. Weight ranges from approximately 1.5 to 8 kg.
