The Seahorse

Tail curled into a slow spiral, snout tilted toward something only it can see — the seahorse holds still in profile, a creature that drifts more than it swims. There is a quiet here, the kind found in tide pools and shallow seagrass beds. Cut from a single sheet of 2mm steel, every leafy spine, every segment of the armored body, the textured coronet on its head and the small fluttering dorsal fin all stay connected in one continuous piece. It reads as patience made physical — a small, deliberate stillness on the wall.

Laser-cut from low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. The cutting beam traces the seahorse's contour with 0.1mm precision — fine enough to hold the leaf-like appendages along the spine and the ridged texture of the segmented exoskeleton. The spiraled prehensile tail, narrowing to almost nothing at its tip, survives the cut because every line is engineered to remain structurally bound to the whole. One piece of steel, no joins, no assembly, wall-ready.

Light completes it. Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, ambient light casts a layered shadow behind the steel. The seahorse seems to hover just off the surface — sharper in direct morning light, softer and more atmospheric in the evening. The spiral of the tail throws its own curling shadow, doubling the form. It is a living quality that flat prints and framed reproductions cannot approach.

Four finishes to match the room: matte black for the sharpest silhouette and the cleanest contrast against light walls, matte white for coastal, spa, and Scandinavian interiors, raw steel with a clear protective coat for industrial warmth and a subtle metallic grain, or corten rust for a weathered oceanic texture that deepens naturally over weeks and months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, each scaled to preserve the original proportions. Weight ranges from approximately 1.5 to 8 kg depending on design complexity.
