Open Water Predator

Face to face with the thing that owns the water. The mouth gapes open, rows of triangular teeth angled inward, the dark cavern beyond them swallowing the light. This is the view almost no one survives to describe — the moment the ocean's oldest predator turns toward you. Cut from a single sheet of 2mm steel, every serrated edge, every gill slit, every fold of skin around the snout stays connected in one continuous piece. No assembly, no compromise on the anatomy that makes this head unmistakable from across the room.

Laser-cut from low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. The cutting beam tracks each tooth with 0.1mm precision — fine enough to hold the serrated profile of the teeth and the texture of the skin across the snout. The narrow gill slits and the rim of the open jaw survive the cut because every line is engineered to remain structurally tied to the whole. One piece of steel, no joins, wall-ready. The panel holds its form across all five sizes without backing or reinforcement.

Light finishes the work. Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, ambient light throws a layered shadow behind the steel. The open mouth deepens, the teeth catch a sharper edge, and the whole head seems to push forward out of the wall as the light moves through the day — harder in direct morning sun, more cavernous and atmospheric in the evening. A living quality that flat prints and canvas cannot reach.

Four finishes to set the mood: matte black for the sharpest silhouette and the most predatory contrast against light walls, matte white for coastal and beach-house interiors, raw steel with a clear protective coat for industrial warmth and a metallic grain, or corten rust for a weathered oceanic texture that deepens naturally over weeks and months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, each scaled to preserve the original proportions. Weight ranges from approximately 1.5 to 8 kg depending on design complexity.
