The Veiled Prayer

Eyes closed, hands clasped, a single rose at her feet — she has withdrawn from the world into a moment that belongs only to her prayer. The Virgin Mary appears here veiled in lace, the filigree of her hood and the vine motifs of her robe traced in fine openwork, a rosary resting against her breast. This is stillness made permanent: the held breath between one word of the prayer and the next, cut from a single sheet of 2mm steel.

Laser-cut from low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. The cutting beam follows the lace pattern of the veil with 0.1mm precision — fine enough to hold each loop of filigree and the petals of the rose at the base. Every delicate line, from the folds of the robe to the contour of her serene face, stays structurally connected to the whole. One continuous piece of steel, no welding, no separate parts joined afterward, wall-ready on arrival.

Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, the panel floats and ambient light casts a layered shadow behind it. The lace of the veil is drawn twice — once in metal, once in shadow — and as light moves through the room across the day, the prayer deepens and softens. Sharper in direct light, quieter and more contemplative in the evening, the panel changes with the hour, a living quality that no flat print can hold.

Four finishes for the mood of the room: matte black for the sharpest silhouette and the gravity this devotional subject carries, matte white for a softer presence in bright chapels and bedrooms, raw steel with a clear protective coat for a warm metallic grain, or corten rust for a weathered patina that deepens naturally over months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, scaled to preserve the original proportions. Weight ranges from approximately 1.5 to 8 kg.
