It is the ocean as memory — the place you stood, watched the water move, and felt how small a single moment is against something that has been turning over itself for millions of years. Cut from a single sheet of 2mm steel, every curling line and cascading swirl stays connected, the rhythm of the water held in metal that does not move.
Laser-cut from low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. The beam follows each brush-like stroke with 0.1mm precision, preserving the contrast between thick troughs and the fine, tapering lines that suggest spray. The negative spaces — the foam, the highlights — are engineered as part of the cut, so the whole composition reads as one continuous piece. No welding, no joins, no backing. The panel holds its form across every size, structurally sound from the smallest swirl to the broadest wave.
Light gives it motion. Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, the steel casts a layered shadow that doubles each wave line behind itself. As light shifts across the day, the shadows lengthen and soften, and the surface seems to breathe — sharper at midday, deeper and more turbulent in evening light. The effect changes the panel from a fixed image into something closer to the water it depicts.
Four finishes carry the mood differently: matte black for the boldest ink-on-paper contrast and the strongest nod to the ukiyo-e wave tradition, matte white for a calm coastal or spa interior, raw steel with a clear protective coat for a metallic sheen that suits a hotel lobby or restaurant wall, or corten rust for a weathered oceanic depth that develops over weeks and months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, scaled to preserve the original proportions. Weight ranges from roughly 1.5 to 8 kg.
