Samson and the Lion

Bare hands force the jaws apart. A man straddles a lion mid-roar, every muscle locked against the animal's strength, and the outcome hangs in the balance of a single instant. This is courage made physical — the old story of conviction meeting the beast, cut from one continuous sheet of 2mm steel. The curling beard, the draped tunic, the vines threading the rocky terrain behind him, the lion's bared teeth — each line reads from across the room, and each carries the weight of what the figure is fighting to prove.
The composition draws on Gustave Doré's 19th-century Romantic engraving, where dense crosshatching gave the scene its violence and its depth. Doré illustrated the Bible with a theatrical intensity that defined how generations pictured these stories, and here that drama survives the translation from ink to metal — the tension between man and lion rendered in clean, deliberate line.
Laser-cut from low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. The beam follows each contour with 0.1mm precision — fine enough to hold the curve of the vines, the texture of the foliage, the individual strands of Samson's hair. Every element remains structurally connected to the whole. One piece of steel, no welding, no separate parts joined afterward. The panel holds its form across all five sizes without backing or reinforcement.
Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, the steel casts a layered shadow behind it. The struggle appears to lift off the surface — sharper in direct light, deeper and more atmospheric as the day fades. Four finishes carry the scene: matte black for the sharpest silhouette and dramatic contrast, matte white for a quieter presence on a feature wall, raw steel with a clear protective coat for industrial warmth, or corten rust for a weathered patina that deepens over weeks and months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, weighing approximately 1.5 to 8 kg. Full details in the craft and delivery guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Samson prying open the jaws of a lion with his bare hands, straddling the animal amid grapevines and rocky terrain. The silhouette captures the moment of struggle — conviction against the beast, frozen in 2mm steel. The bearded figure, the roaring lion, and the surrounding foliage all remain connected in one continuous piece.
Each panel is laser-cut from a single sheet of 2mm low-carbon steel. The entire design — every line and detail — remains one continuous, structurally connected piece. No welding or assembly required, and the panel holds its form across all sizes without backing.
The panel ships with standoff spacers and wall anchors. Mount the spacers to the wall, then attach the panel. The 15mm gap creates a floating effect with a layered shadow behind the steel that shifts throughout the day, sharper in direct light and deeper in the evening.
Four options: Matte Black for the sharpest silhouette and dramatic contrast, Matte White for a quieter presence on a feature wall, Raw Steel with a clear protective coat for industrial warmth, and Corten Rust for a weathered patina that develops naturally over months.
Five sizes scaled to preserve the original proportions: S (45 cm), M (60 cm), L (80 cm), XL (100 cm), and XXL (130 cm) on the longer side. Weight ranges from approximately 1.5 kg to 8 kg depending on size and design complexity.
