Crown of thorns pressed into his brow, hands bound, the red robe trailing down the stone steps — Jesus stands before Pilate as the crowd presses in. "What is truth?" hangs unanswered in the air. This is the question without resolution, the moment of judgment frozen in 2mm steel: the accused below, the governor gesturing from his balcony, Roman spears and priestly turbans crowding the gothic arches behind. Every figure, every fold, every line of tension holds together in one continuous cut.

The composition draws from James Tissot's late nineteenth-century treatment of the Passion, rendered here in high-contrast silhouette. Tissot abandoned his fashionable society scenes to travel the Holy Land and document the life of Christ with archaeological care — the armor, the architecture, the gestures of the crowd all studied from observation. That density of detail carries into metal: the halo's glow, Pilate's raised hand, the bound wrists at the heart of the scene.

Laser-cut from a single sheet of 2mm low-carbon steel in a Polish workshop. Every element — the crown's thorns, the spears, the steps, the surrounding faces — remains structurally connected in one continuous piece. No welding, no assembly, no separate parts joined afterward. The cutting beam follows each contour with 0.1mm precision, narrow enough to preserve the crowd's individual figures and the fine line where robe meets stone.

Mounted on standoff spacers 15mm from the wall, the panel casts a layered shadow behind the steel. The scene gains depth as ambient light moves through the room — sharper in direct light, deeper and more solemn in the evening. The drama of the moment shifts hour by hour, a living quality no flat print can hold.

Four finishes for the setting: matte black for the sharpest, most dramatic silhouette, matte white for a quieter presence in bright interiors, raw steel with a clear protective coat for an industrial grain, or corten rust for a warm, weathered patina that deepens over months. Five sizes from S (45 cm) to XXL (130 cm) on the longer side, scaled to preserve the original proportions. All finishes and sizing details are covered in the craft and delivery guide.
